Using the Faculty Scholarship Database

How do I search the database?

The database may be searched by faculty name, department, type of work, year, or words in the title. You may also search for any combination of these elements.

How do I enter my references into the database?

If your name, or work type, is missing from the list, please contact the library to have it added. Once a work has been submitted, the citation will be reviewed before appearing in the database.

How were the types of works categories chosen?

The types of works listed in the pull-down menu for Work Type were chosen to reflect the categories of works in RefWorks, a bibliographic tool that can be used with the database to generate bibliographies. These categories may not always seem appropriate for the type of work you wish to enter. If you have a question about which format to use for a particular type of scholarly activity, send the information to the library and we will enter it into the database for you.

Can I create print bibliographies from the database?

Lists of citations can be exported to RefWorks and then formatted in any desired citation style for output as a bibliography. If you wish to create a bibliography from the database, contact Debra Bucher, debucher@vassar.edu.
