About the Faculty Scholarship Database

The Faculty Scholarship Database is designed for those on and off campus who would like a quick means of reviewing faculty research and scholarship at the College. The database is searchable in several ways and may eventually link to texts or excerpts of publications when available.

Coverage of Database

The database, as first made public in 2007, includes works from 2003 to 2006. As time allows, records of earlier faculty scholarship will be added. Faculty may add references to their earlier scholarship if they wish to do so.

Who May Enter Work Into the Database

The database has been designed so that faculty may enter their own works into the database or records may be added by library staff. Formats used in the database are based on Turabian, A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 6th ed. Categories of works correspond to categories in Turabian style in RefWorks. Lists of citations can be exported to RefWorks and then formatted in any desired citation style. For more information, contact Debra Bucher, debucher@vassar.edu.

Some Types of Works Entered in the Database

Book reviews are entered as journal or magazine articles as are poems, plays, and short stories which appeared in journals or magazines. Contributions to reference books are entered as book sections. Conference proceedings may be entered as books or as journal articles, depending on their mode of publication. Exhibition catalogues are entered as books.

Faculty Included in the Database

Initially (as of academic year 2006/7), items have been submitted for inclusion in the database by full-time faculty, lecturers, adjunct faculty and librarians.
